New Baby Olivia!

Since it may be a bit until Amy posts pictures on her blog, I will share some of the wealth here.
Baby Olivia Cosby was born rather quickly on Thursday, March 25th at 11:30am.
She weighed 7 lbs 11 oz and was 20 1/4" long. Both mom and baby are doing very well :)
I am headed over today to see her in person- thank goodness she is only a 3 hour drive away and I don't work weekends! :)

A Perfect Valentine

Nicholas and I had a perfect Valentine's weekend together.  Friday night was the opening ceremonies of the Olympics and I worked all day to make sure I had Dancebeat done so I could enjoy them.  Nick picked up a heart-shaped pizza on his way home from Papa Johns and then we camped in front of our nice tv.  We both love the Olympics and the opening ceremonies were great.

Saturday morning we slept in- for a long time...it felt wonderful.  Then we went for a run; it was a beautiful morning and we had a really nice run of about 4.5 miles.  I felt so great after the run...my heels and knees didn't hurt at all!  After getting cleaned up we had a lazy day at home- perfect!  We watched more Olympics, Nick tinkered around on a spreadsheet, I took a nap...all sorts of things you want to do but don't have time for.  When the evening rolled around we headed out for a date- dinner and a movie.

I had been wanting to see Dear John as I had read it awhile back.  Our plan was to go eat dinner and then go to the movie, however when we pulled up to the restaurant the lights were flickering and went out while we were in the parking lot.  We put our name on the list anyway, but then sat in the car and tried to figure out what we had time for.  Eventually we came to the conclusion that we would go to the theatre and see if there was anything quick we could grab in the same shopping center.  Well, we went to the theatre but they were out of power too!  It was so dark!  We went to plan B which was going to a different theatre where you can eat in the theatre...we had a gift card from there from one of the students at the studio for Christmas.  So we went to Movie Tavern and found seats.  They give you menus when they tear your ticket and waiters come around in the movie theatre (don't worry, there are little tables in there too...it isn't laid out exactly like a regular movie theatre).  We had pretty good food and a great milkshake and enjoyed the movie...although now I am thinking I need to read the book again!

Sunday was alright...I had a hard time with my primary class and was feeling a bit discouraged as I didn't even get to hand out my homemade and super cute valentines I had made specially for them.  I took a nap when we got home and forgot all about it though.  Nick and I made dinner together, something we both really enjoy, and watched more Olympics...I am afraid it is about the only thing that will be on in our home for the next week!  I am already getting sad as they are advertising for things that start or resume when the games end, but I guess all the athletes need a break.  I can not believe how incredibly strong they are!  And they are my age!  So technically I should be able to do those things...?  They are fun to watch anyway!

We had kind of talked about not really doing any presents this year as we had spent some money elsewhere, so I was very surprised when Nick gave me a gift certificate to get a massage!  It is true that my body aches with running and dancing and such and I am so looking forward to a professional massage!

All in all it was a perfect weekend- not because we did anything special or gave elaborate gifts (even though Nick's gift is fabulous!) but just because we got to enjoy a bunch of time together with no real plans other than to be together.  We hope you had a happy Valentine's!

Rest In Peace

My plant that I have had for years- I think I got it my sophomore year in college, so going on 6 years old- is pretty much dead.  I don't know what happened.  Everything was normal and then one day it looked pretty bad and it just never recovered...I couldn't bear to throw it out, so I trimmed the vines down to just a few inches to see if I can get them to grow new life.  Wish me luck!
This plant was the best plant.  It lived no matter what I did- my grandma fed it diet coke for weeks when I would go home, and it thrived!  I would cut a twig off, put it in a pot, and it would multiply in size over and over again!  (Yes former roommates, this is "New Testament")  Rest in peace- you were a great plant!
